Singer-songwriter Silja Palomäki steps into the spotlight with her debut album. Blending contemporary folk, progressive rock, and poetic storytelling, the album explores timeless themes of love, death, and human fragility.

Drawing inspiration from Finnish poetry—including the work of J. H. Erkko, featured on her debut single The Third—Palomäki creates a sound world where historical texts meet modern musical intensity. The result is both intimate and expansive, rooted yet forward-looking.

The album features a lineup of acclaimed musicians, including contemporary folk pioneer Pekko Käppi, whose voice and bowed lyre add a mythic depth to the sound. Also contributing are guitarist and producer Tapio Ylinen, bassist Jukka Haavisto, and drummer Jaakko Pöyhönen, a recent Teosto Prize winner with Tinyhawk & Bizarro.

Produced and recorded by Ylinen (Varjo-Yrjö Award 2020; Jazz Emma nominee 2021), the album expands beyond traditional folk into a rich, dynamic soundscape where acoustic textures meet electric and progressive elements.

Palomäki is a respected figure in Finnish folk, known for her work with Anne-Mari Kivimäki’s ensembles and various interdisciplinary projects. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Sibelius Academy and is an active member of the Folk Extreme collective.

Her debut album is more than a collection of songs—it is a cohesive, evocative work where poetry and modern expression intertwine.
